Trojan HongTouTou Found in Chinese App Markets

A couple of new trojan variants, “BD.HongTouTou.A” and “BD.HongTouTou.B”, have been found in alternative Chinese Android App Markets. The malware is being repackaged into legitimate popular apps like the game RoboDefense and wallpaper apps, it’s then uploaded to alternative markets and forums.
The trojan is programmed for a whole slew of techniques that could make the make the issuers money or leak personal information to them. The trojan receives commands to emulate searches on search engines using defined keywords and then clicking on links like a real user had performed the search from their phone making the issuers money. The malware can monitor users communications and insert it’s own keywords into the conversation. And it also has the ability to download and install new apps but there have not been any signs of it doing so yet.

Necessitas Eases Porting Of Nokia QT Apps To Android

Nokia’s developers are up in arms about not being able to develop on the new Nokia Windows phones with the QT interface framework. Currently developers can develop an app with QT and their app will work on all Nokia platforms but not once Windows Mobile is introduced. Nokia developers are complaining that they don’t want to have to program for Windows Mobile.
A developer who goes by the alias “BogDan” came up with a solution and has just released software to run QT apps on Android phones called Necessitas. So now any Nokia developer can quickly port their apps over to Android and not be stuck on a dying platform. They can now use their already honed skills in QT to develop for a quickly emerging platform. You can download these tools for Free online.

For the second month in a row Android has the lead in mobile ads, which means money for developers which in turn will mean more and better apps for Android. In January, Google’s mobile OS captured 54 percent of all ad impressions seen on smartphone platforms on the network, up from 46 percent in December. At the same time, the share of impressions held by Apple’s iOS fell to 28 percent from 32 percent the prior month.

It’s appearing to be a bad choice that Nokia made going with Windows Mobile 7 over Android. Nokia said they picked Windows because it would be too hard to differentiate between them and the other hundred plus Android phones on the market. Windows 7 has shipped a meager 2 million handsets so far to date vs Androids over 33 million just last quarter.
Nokia haven’t you ever heard the term if you can’t beat em join em? You were loosing the battle before and you pick an obsolete OS to rebound with? Android will be leaving you in the dust while you try and catch up with Blackberry and WebOS let alone even try and compete with iOS and Android.
